Vail Colorado lodging and hotels is almost a must to enjoy a great skiing vacation? Look no further than in the middle of the great Rocky Mountains. This village sits nestled at the base of the mountains in Eagle County and the main Vail Mountain is the single largest skiing area in the US! It is a small town famous for its skiing. There is skiing available for all levels of ability and interest. But this area isn't just about skiing! Not by a long shot. With its beautiful lodging and hotels you won't want to leave.

The only road in and out of Vail is Interstate 70, so if you are planning on driving to your vacation, that's the road you'll want to take. As you drive, you'll remain literally in awe as you wind your way through the Colorado Rockies toward skiing at its best. Put John Denver's Rocky Mountain High on the radio and you'll complete the traveling experience! If you choose to fly in, the Eagle County airport is the one you'll want to enter. The airport is not right in town, it's about 40 minutes away in another town: Gypsum. Driving or flying are pretty much your only two options to get to your skiing destination.

This town is a small village modeled after a Bavarian mountain village: the roads feel like a small Bavarian town, the houses in the village itself have that Bavarian mountain styling, and Vail is partially car free, which means if you bring your car (or if you fly in and rent a car) you could have trouble finding a place to park. At first, this could sound like an inconvenience, but when you're there, you'll quickly pick up on the atmosphere and you won't mind at all. After all, everything is in fairly close proximity and Vail has an incredible free shuttle service to take you to the mountains.

Also, the size of the area is fairly small, with only about 5000 residents. Although some people consider it to be one of the faster growing places for real estate values in the US and expect 80,000 or more living in the area (not just directly in the town of Vail Colorado itself). Skiing enthusiasts who are looking to buy a second home should seriously consider purchasing one in the area, even for a medium-term investment, if prices do, indeed increase in price.

Other options for you to switch up your vacation, is to leave the area and journey to one of the other small villages nearby. Snowmass Colorado, Antler, and Aspen, are all 2 hours or less and offer equally invigorating skiing and winter sports. If you drove in your RV for a great skiing vacation, consider staying at the Antlers RV park if you want to ski in Vail Colorado but don't want to stay in Vail. Vail Colorado, while famous for its skiing, has a lot to offer year-round. While the winter season is a great time to go, there are opportunities for you to enjoy a vacation there any time of the year.

So, what about the lodging and hotels? Prices vary considerably depending on the location. If you chose to stay at the Vail Lodge, right in the Village, you could expect to pay over $1,000 a night for a 2 bedroom condo/hotel. But, generally speaking...to be within a few blocks of the gondola you can find lodging at a condo or hotel for $400 and up during ski season. Prices drop considerably during the summer...which some people enjoy more than during skiing season.
