Why Do We Have Daylight Savings

This year to make daylight saving time special, try sending out e-cards to family and friends alike. Free e-cards have become the fast, easy, and obviously free way of congratulating, or entertaining people.

Free e-cards cover loads of different genres, some humorous, others fairly upsetting. One of my favorite things about free e-cards is they can be sent from nearly anywhere in the world, as long as you have a computer connected to the web.

E-cards are quickly taking over the card market, and in just a few years it will start to become very uncommon not to be receiving at least one or two free e-cards for your birthday or Christmas alike. E-cards can contain prity much any message you want, and you'll never, ever run out of ink when sending one of the free e-cards.

Your free e-card could simply be just a small, simple reminder to your colleagues, friends, or family that its that time of year again to either put your clocks forward or back. Or it could be more personal, and you could include a small gag, or prank just to make it a little more lighthearted. Maybe you could try and get them to put their clocks back, when they should actually be putting them forward.

It's that time of the year again. That's right, it's time to set your clocks forward an hour (or back an hour if you're in Australia). Daylight Saving Time, though considered a hassle by most, was started in the United States during World War I to save fuel by diminishing the need for artificial lighting.

Though readily adopted by some states, it was not instituted nationally until World War II.

The Uniform Time Act of 1966 was the first legislation that formed the structure for the alternation of Daylight Saving Time and Standard Time that is now observed in the United States. The system of beginning Daylight Saving Time at 2 a.m. on the first Sunday in April and ending it at 2 a.m. on the last Sunday of October was officially established in 1986.

Though the only thing to be done in observance of this day is to set your clock back or forward, on time, the traditional commemoration of Daylight Saving Time results in a lot of confusion, tardiness, and frustration. Hence this reminder.

To be in sync with the time change, write notes for yourself and attach them to any and every time-keeping device you use, mark it on your calendar and urge others to do the same so that you don't find yourself in the position of waiting for or making excuses for those who forgot about Daylight Saving Time.

And you can rest assured there will be many of them.

Millions of people are sending and receiving free e-cards each year, and you too could be for free. They are a great way of reminding, or just thanking people about something they have, or need to do for you. I know for a fact, my life would be so much harder without free e-cards.
