Tires being one of the most important parts in the vehicle system are of many different types. The tires are made up of rubber and plastic composites by which they are fixed in the wheel. The performance of any vehicle depends to a large degree on the tire. Now days because of the conditions of the road, the tires get worn out very easily. This situation is not welcoming and hence we must take proper care for all these problems.

There are many different types of tires available. This difference is because of the purpose for which they are being used. When it comes to a bicycle, the tire used is very thin and hence the pressure or force is not so heavy on it where as in case of a truck or a crane, the size and number of tires varies. Also the tire pattern is different for the front and back axles in some vehicles. The back axle has to support heavy load than front in a case of passenger buses. When it comes to heavy duty vehicles or heavy load vehicles, there are sometimes four tires at the back so that they could compensate for the heavy load which is imposed on it.

The functions of the tires are very commonly known. They are helpful in the braking and steering system of the vehicle. They help in bringing about a balance between the road and the vehicle. The friction caused between them should be the least possible while still being safe or because of the heat generation, the tear and wear will be more. The tire works on the basis of pneumatic system and air is pumped into it. The tires have a very strong impact on the mileage and efficiency of the vehicle.

So with so many functions the tires perform, proper care and safety should be taken in order to increase the life of the tires. Any small or abnormal type of error or tear in the tire should be immediately treated and the tire should be replaced. It's a great skill to repair a tire properly because only the manufacturer will know the norms and means to modify and repair it. The inflation pressure should be properly checked. If the pressure is more it might burst. If it's less, it will get worn out faster. So generally nowadays, companies recommend to replace the tire in a span of three years even if the tire is in good condition to ensure the safety of the user.
