One of the many uses for home printing equipment is to create church bulletins and pamphlets, which can even have tear-off sections for sermon notes and responses. There are a great number of forward-thinking churches that are using their own color copiers and laser printers to create these customizable documents. And as technology improves, more organizations are taking advantage of the ability to add color images to their pamphlets, bulletins and other handouts. It is now possible for churches to completely individualized bulletins to hand out to their congregations every week.
One problem that may present itself is when churches decide to use perforated sheets on their bulletins and pamphlets. The necessary machinery for these types of documents is rather expensive, and this is not the way that most churches want to spend their limited resources. There is a solution to this problem, though; which is to simply use perforated paper to print these documents on.
Most churches use 24lb legal sized paper with 3” perforations starting at the bottom. Their bulletins can have half or triple folds with 3” tear-off strips if they use this type of paper, which is perfect for sermon notes and responses to the bulletin. Some may also want to use 24lb legal paper with 3.5” tear-off strips, though, if they want a larger perforated section. Most churches will always want to use the 24lb paper, though, which helps to cut down on bleeding and creates a finer finished product.
This perforated paper is not much of a risk for churches to invest in, either, because it is 100 percent guaranteed to be photocopier compatible. So there’s no need to worry that it won’t fit in a copier or laser printer. The perforated paper is simply run through special rollers, which ensure that it’s totally flat, and then it is packaged in moisture resistant reams to avoid curling. So it’s easy to duplex this type of perforated paper using a copier or laser printer. Some of the other perforated papers available on the market don’t run well through photocopiers.
