Golf is a great game. For most people who haven't yet picked up golf, the game might seem a little slow compared to soccer, or basketball. Golf, I feel is a game that allows rapport building amongst colleagues and old friends who otherwise we would have lost touch with.

Golf is a difficult game. To pick up golf is easy but it takes an understanding of the game, course management and having a different array of golf making shots to become consistently good at it, regardless of course we play. Some may play well on a good day, only to find their scores increase dramatically the next. Even professionals have to stay in touch with their game in order to be at their best.

Here are some simple ways to help you have a better score.

#1 Reaching the golf course 1 hour earlier.

By reaching the golf course 1 hour earlier, you'll be able to warm up at the practice range, stretch out the back muscles which are stiff. Most golfers arrive to the golf course 15 minutes before and start the game without warm up. This can lead to injury and a sprained back. By having flexibility in warmed up back muscles, you'll be able to have a full shoulder turn and create a consistent timing in your golf stroke, and enjoy the game better.

#2 Tracking what when wrong with your game.

Discerning golfers will track what when wrong with their game. Other then taking note of their birdies and bogeys, they also track on the score card, the shots that lead to a bad score. They'll note down how many bad putts, errant tee shots, 3 putts, duffed pitching wedge shots. In this way, one can understand exactly which part of the game needs work.

If we find that we're 3 putting a great deal, then instead of pounding driver after driver at the range, it would be more worth while to invest time at the green, and get a feel of how much strength we need to stroke the ball. Putting well can dramatically lower ones score by as much as 10 strokes.

#3 Read up and learn about the golf swing and golf game plan.

Most people trust in their body feel and muscle memory to develop a golf swing. Unfortunately, practice makes permanent, and you'll find many golfers at the range, including myself at one stage, trusting our "feel", and this can lead to incorrect swing paths and strange looking golf swings. By getting a good golf instruction guide, you'll be able to feed your mind with the right golf concepts, and if the mind can perceive what is right, the body muscles will follow to create that aesthetic looking golf swing.
