Tulsa, Oklahoma is a beautiful city located in eastern Oklahoma near the Arkansas state line. Filled with attractions and recreational opportunities, Tulsa real estate can offer the beauty and hospitality of the small town South, with the abundant opportunities of a larger city.

Tulsa is the second largest city in Oklahoma and ranks number 45 in population in the entire United States, with a population of around 400,000. The greater Tulsa area is home to 905,000 residents and is slated to grow to over a million in the next two to four years. So Tulsa real estate opportunities abound.

Tulsa's history is rich, as well. The city was first settled in 1830s by the Creek Indian tribe. In 1921, the infamous Tulsa Race Riot occurred, marking one of the largest and most devastating acts of racial violence in the history of the country. Additionally, Tulsa has been called the "oil capital of the world" as it played a huge role as the most important city of the oil industry in America. Historians also credit Tulsa as the birthplace of historic Route 66 and as the home of Western Swing music.

Today, Tulsa is home to several forms of outstanding arts and culture including several dance, theater, and concert groups including the Tulsa Opera, the Tulsa Ballet, Theatre Tulsa - which is the oldest community theater company west of the Mississippi. Also, the Tulsa Spotlight Theater shows the nation's longest running play in America (The Drunkard) every week. Just outside of the city, "Discoveryland!", an outdoor amphitheater, holds the official title of the world's performance headquarters for the musical Oklahoma!

Tulsa is also home to 14 colleges and universities ranging from two year community colleges to Division I Universities that offer a full range of two year specialty programs, four year programs, and post graduate degrees. The largest of these universities is Oral Roberts University, which offers a full array of bachelor, graduate, and post graduate degree programs.
The diversity and limitless opportunities available in Tulsa make it a great place to live, work and visit.

If you are considering a move to Tulsa, think about what you feel would be best for you and your family and make the decisions as to whether you need a place near the city center or one that is in the more rural outskirts of the city. Tulsa real estate can offer great value and diversity both in the city and in the more rural areas surrounding Tulsa.
