How Ramadan Has Evolved

In today's multi cultural society many people find themselves away from their country of true origin on days of national importance and celebration. Ramadan is now celebrated in countries all over the world and to help people celebrate it there has grown a style of free e-cards. Muslims can now keep in touch with friends and family during this holy time by sending them free e-cards.

Ramadan is one of most holy times of the Islamic year, due to the belief that it was during this month that the prophet Mohammed received the Koran, the holy book of Islam. The month is marked by dedication to prayer and faith by Muslims, the focus on establishing and renewing spiritual connection to Allah and the teachings embodied by the Koran.
In observance of this special month, Muslims fast throughout the day, to help concentrate their energy away from the problems and concerns of daily life and to purify thoughts by thoroughly turning to the teachings of Allah and the Koran.

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and lasts thirty full days. It is honored by heightened vigilance to the five daily prayers, as well as additional mosque services and special prayers. When the sun goes down, prayers are said and the fast is broken with a light meal called the iftar. Families and friends get together in the evening for prayer, reflection, and social interaction. The fast is begun again come morning.

Besides the fact that no eating or drinking is allowed during the days of Ramadan, there are other prohibitions. Smoking is taboo, as is acting on any sexual urges. Furthermore, the benefits of adherence to the restrictions of Ramadan are said to be greatly diminished if not completely reversed by a person who: lies, commits slander, criticizes another person behind their back, makes a false promise, is greedy.

During the fast of Ramadan these five transgressions have even greater consequences than during the rest of the year. There is a particular contemplative nature to this observance, requiring not only devotion to the teachings of the Koran, but also to the demanding traditions of the holiday itself.

The fasting ends with sundown on the last day of Ramadan, and is followed by three days of Eid-al-Fitr (the Feast of Fast Breaking), which is commemorated with gifts, communal prayer, and large, festive meals.

Millions of Muslims send free e-cards to celebrate this holy event. It helps them to keep in touch with friends and loved ones. It is also possible to add special personal messages to each free e-card and as a result it enables family members and friends not to loose touch. There are many different designs of ecards to choose from and the sending of these ecards is so easy.

The other good thing about sending these free e-cards is that they get there straight away. No political or geographical border gets in there way. As long as there is a computer and internet access at the other end the recipient will receive the e card straight away.
